We used current contractors initially to fit a 16 amp socket for a new cooker. We were so impressed that we booked them to fit a large electric fire and move sockets and switches to accommodate it and also put power sockets and lights into a newly built garage. Current Contractors is a family-run, husband-and-wife business founded by Shay Ward. Shay has been an electrician since leaving school at 16, with 26 years in the electrical trade. After 13 years running a business with a partner, he sold his share to focus fully on the electrical work that matters most to him, and on building a greener future for local homes and businesses. That led to Current Contractors Ltd in 2024, and in 2026 Current Contractors Renewables was created to bring high-quality solar PV and battery storage to the region.
One team covers both sides of the business. Current Contractors Ltd handles electrical installations, rewires, fault finding, EICRs and landlord safety checks, while Current Contractors Renewables designs and installs solar PV, battery storage and EV charge points. Our team includes Louise in the office, experienced electricians Luke, Jamie and Duncan, and our apprentices Gracie and Bradley.
We offer honest advice, quality installations and genuine care for every project, treating your home or business as if it were our own.
